Repairing Keep Doors

Skill:

To repair a keep door, you need the woodworking skill. The better your skill, the better chance you have of repairing a door. Even with the appropriate skill, you may fail on your attempt, so it may take several tries. Information on raising your woodworking can be found by looking over the links at the bottom.

Wood:

The amount of wood needed to repair a door is based on units, not boards. We'll call these wunits. Each stack of wood has a different number of wunits depending on the grade of the wood:

Tips:
1. After you /upgrade a door, it looses up to 10% of its health.
   
2. Each repair has a chance of healing up to 10% of a doors health, depending on how much skill you have.
   
3. The amount of wood each repair takes varies, probably dependant on how much the repair heals;
   repairs on a level 2 door took 256 wunits one time, 320 another, 320 another, 400 another, and 320 again.
4. From my experience, /repairing is harder than /upgrading at the same level, and may take more tries;
   At 262 woodworking, I could repair a level 4 door after 2 or 3 tries, but a level 5 door took about 14 tries.
   As you can see, after level 5, a single repair will cost over 400gp. So, please don't upgrade a door past 5.

I'm still collecting info, so please email me if you have any data. The repair wunits above could be more accurate if oak or something smaller was used, since I used ebonwood.

Hibernia:

Innis Carthaig
Yealcha inside the wood hut, female with a celtic tunic, sells ALL types of wood.
Accalon, high elf male in blue robe under the tree near the wood hut sells wood from Rowan to Heartwood.
Tir Na Nog
Some vendor in the collection of vendors right near the forge sells the lower types of wood. Will get name one day.
Basar
Erech, north end of basar, sells Ebonwood only. Basar is the small town next to the north (stone) bridge.
Emain Macha
In Cruachon, there are 2 wood vendors. The one that sells siege parts sells Elm. The other sells ALL types of wood.

How much Wood Can One Carry

I did a couple of quick tests. I'm a druid celt and this varies from person to person. But roughly, if you have 50 wt on you, with a high level stength and str/con buff, you can carry 150 more weight and still move at a slow run:


265/176 = dead stop
245/176 = slow walk
210/176 = slowish run speed
201/176 = managable but slower run
195/176 = almost unnoticably slower


There is a strength bug: If you are carrying enough weight to be encumbered, and get strength buffed, you will still be encumbered and will not move faster until you drop something and pick it up. Also, remember that if you die, when you release or get rezzed you will move very slowly until you are rebuffed.

Procedure

1. Walk up to a keep door, target it, and type /upgrade to view what level it is.
   
2. Click on the door a second time (because door HP bars are bugged). The second click should show the real health.
   
3. Look to see how much health it's lost by comparing the bar to the experience-bar bubbles. Each bubble is 10%. Every 10% drop in health will require at least 1 repair.
4. Look at the table above to determine how much wood you need to buy. If the door has lost more than 10% health, multiply by how many repairs you'll need.
   
5. Once you have the appropriate amount of wood, target the door and stand against it.
   
6. Type /repair. It will tell you if you need more wood, but NOT how much more, or it will begin the upgrade.
   
7. After 18 seconds, you will either pass or fail on the repair. You don't loose wood on a failure.s
   
8. After it's successfully repaired, it will take a few seconds to update its health.
   
9. Continue /repairs until the door is 100% health. It will then say "The door no longer needs repairs".
