if I recall, if you put an armor reactive on , it procs when hit. Where if you put a weapon proc on it, it procs when a shield style is used.

Reactive procs work on shields, but only in RvR or duels. They do not work in PvE at all. (This is to prevent shield tanks from soloing high level mobs using the proc to do all the damage.)

yes because only casters should be able to solo high level pve mobs

Hmm does that PvE nerf also apply to passive or defensive reactive procs like a heal proc or ablative proc?

Not letting reactives work in PVE is such a stupid idea. Yeah, kill the mob using a 50pt reactive... when engage only works if the mob isn't taking damage. Its not even feasible.

No reactive proc works on a shield in PvE.

For the other's... a good shield tank can block 90%+ of hits even without engage. The point of the rule is that you shouldn't be able to tank mobs to death without even being in combat mode. Also, reactive procs were introduced well before ToA, so the concept of an ML9 pet tanking epic mobs didn't exist.

I am not saying I agree with the rational, especially now in a post-ToA world, but that was the reasoning given back when Alchemy was introduced.

Those 10% of hits that get through would kill you pretty fast. Mob will be hitting you for more than 50.

Its been a stupid idea from the onset. Game mechanics are such that anything you could survive long enough to kill with only a shield proc (over what 10 minutes?) would be easily killed in three pbaoe blasts in about 5 seconds.

If you wanted to throw a HOT on the shield tank while the proc slowly kills the mob... why aren't you using a pet with a focus shield anyway and do it in a fraction of the time?

I can't see anyway where it would really be worth exploiting in PVE. And god forbid a tank getting a tiny edge in solo PVE.
