DISCLAIMER: Your Steps and Tasks may be different

Characters that were created after Patch Version 1.79 do not receive this Epic quest.

Per patch 1.75:
- Connla's Well - Slevin has relocated to the barn at the parthanan farm in east Lough Derg.

Talk to Labhras and he will tell you that a terrible beast has taken over Connla's Well in Shannon Estuary! Caora is her name, and she is one of the most feared of the Caoranachs! He asks you to Find Slevin. He usually frequents the guard tower on the road from Connla to Innis Carthaig.

Go to Slevin and he gives you a powder to take to Viola in Caille (Slevin has relocated to the barn at the parthanan farm in east Lough Derg.) Take it to her and she will give you a forumla to take to Maeve, the Crone. Take her the forumla and she will make you a charm.

**Ranger Version**

Your guildmaster tells you to journey to Connia, the town just just north of the river that connects Silvermine mountains and Shannon Estuary. There you are to talk to an armor merchant in the large wooden hut. He tells you to slay Caora, who is on the east side of the river. From the bridge, follow the east/south side of the river north until you come to a 3-way intersection. Turn right and follow the river. You should come to a small pond with stones circling it. Mermen and Caorathans should be in there. At night, Caora spawns. She cons level 11 and is very difficult to kill for a level 11. Bring a friend! (loc 50,26)

**Eldritch and Warden version**

Step 1.
Upon attaining level 11 speak to the Eldritch trainer in TNN. You will be
given the quest.
Step 2.
You have to travel South to Connla and speak to Edana.
Step 3.
Edana informs you that you must go and kill Caora, a large worm. She lives in a small lake NE of Connla. Go NE and the river will split, take the course to the right. Follow that until the end. There you will see stone pillars around a small lake. Hopefully your faction with Mermen is in good standing as they are all over this place.

Caora is in the lake as well as some of her children. Since you're an Eldritch use one of your long range bolt spells to pull her to you, no sense in getting your robe
wet.

At level 11 Caora is a bit hard to kill by yourself so if you can bring a friend.

**Hero Version** submitted by: Phorgon

1. Start out at trainer in TNN, he will tell you that you need to find Slevin, near the barn at the parthanan farm in east Lough Derg.

2. He will give you some powder and ask you to take it to Viola in Caille which is past Mag Mell.
So swim accross to Connla and get on a horse to Druim Ligen. Jump before you get to Mag Mell and run East along the shoreline. Just follow the edge of the water all the way around, or if the curmudgeon scare you, just swim around. Keep going untill you see a dock. You are almost there when you see a second camp of Curmudgeons, but these are "Figters". When you get to the dock (52k 56k) turn east and run into the forest. It is just before Silvermine Mountains. There will be a pond in the middle of the forest and you will come out the other side in Bri Leith. You will see a rock with the Caille written on it, follow the path a few steps in front of it down into the valley between the trees. When I got to Brynach I was tired of running, so I got a horse to Druim Cain. Jump when you get to Caille (35k 32k). Viola is the translucent one in the gazebo. She will give you a formula and tell you to give it to Maeve by ardee.

3. Run back to Brynach and get on a horse to Druim Cain again and this time go all the way, then get a horse to Tir na Mbeo. It's a little out of the way but it will save a lot of time. Jump at Mag Mell again and run to the hut near the mudmen outside of ardee (57k 44k). Maeve is inside. She will give you your peice of jewelry. It's called the Hero Charm, it's level 13, and it gives strength +6, hits +16, constitution +6, and parry +1.

1. Start out at trainer in TNN, he will tell you that you need to find Slevin on the path between Connla and Innis Carthaig. It's pretty far to run so I suggest riding a horse to Innis or Connla. If you get a horse to Connla, then jump at the bridge; if you get one to Innis Carthaig, then jump when you get to the SI gate. He is at around 23k 31k, right next to the tower.

2. He will give you some powder and ask you to take it to Viola in Caille which is past Mag Mell.
So swim accross to Connla and get on a horse to Druim Ligen. Jump before you get to Mag Mell and run East along the shoreline. Anyone notice that the "Eldritch version" and the "Ranger version" above are essentially the same? Both versions have you speak with your guildmaster first, who sends you to speak to Ronan the armor merchant, who sends you to kill Caora (Caora drops your reward). Also, the different versions of the quest appear to be random, not class based: my level 11 Hero got the so-called Eldritch (or Ranger) version.

I liked the exp from that stupid worm so much, I have decided to stay until level 12! Talk about easy.. I am lucky that my siabra faction is good or else camping there may suck but..

I suggest it to anyone. Kill all the little blue/ green spawnlings and wait for yellow biggin to spawn, kill it.. You should have a bub or a bub and a third or so.

Happy hunting!

PS Im a warden and I got the gloves :(

I wanted the charm!

Completed this quest as an 11 ranger. The monster conned yellow to me. I had help from another ranger, so was easy. From Connla to the well, be sure to cross the bridge. I thought to swim over the river when I got to where the stream went right, but there were too many aggro purple badgers swimming around. The item is well worth the time and effort.

Caora
# Jan 07 2002 at 2:15 PM Rating: Default
I did this quest just after hitting 11th lvl. All i had were rawhide cruaigh armor (all green) and was dual wielding a ferrite sword, don't remember which, and ferrite falcata, both blue. Buffed myself up, waded into water w/ cheapest arrows available since i just started fletching. Hit w/ 3 shots, backed out of water and proceeded to taunt blade her to death. I lost about a quarter health. I had more trouble w/ a regular yellow caoranoch than with Caora herself (also yellow). Dunno, guess i was just real lucky cause another ranger even to me died on her next pop. The worst part was finding a good spot to pull from without wading in too deep. Reward was the jewel of speed w/ +5 to quickness. I think it wouldve gone even quicker w/ better arrows, and weapons heh. Oh well, good luck to anyone going to try her out.

My friend Nightlord, level 11 Warden, and I had to kill all the worms in the water first for the Caora to spawn. Biatch conned yellow to me, so I landed pretty much every Hero skill available at level 11 on her, killed her, and got Protectors Cloak. In addition, got some exp. It was pretty close.

Ranger Version
# Dec 22 2001 at 9:28 PM Rating: Decent
Got the quest from the ranger trainer in TNN.

1. Speak to Edana in Connla. From TNN I went to Mag Mell and took a pony down to Howth and then ran southwest along the western shore of the river down to Connla. Simple trip with no dangers enroute. Found Edana in the second (middle) building in Connla. Happily for we rangers, Edana also happens to be the local arrow merchant!

2. Edana describes a terrible beast named Caora that was supposed to have been thrown from a distant mountain by a giant named "Bran." She directs you to follow the eastern shore of the river back to the northeast, where you will find a stream running to the east away from the main channel.

3. In actuality, if you head due east from the front door of the middle building, crossing the river (sans bridge) and proceeding overland on that heading, you will run directly into the estuary containing the awful monster. Note: The faint of heart may want to go ahead and use the bridge. It seems that Mythic, in all its perverse wisdom has added a new mob (water badger) to the river that hits a level eleven ranger for 111 points a pop!

4. Arrived safely at the estuary, but note that several purple con mobs (to a level eleven) had to be circumvented along the way. Caora was ensconced in the middle of the "pond" as it were, and even using flight broadhead arrows, it was necessary to wade a good ways out into the water. Again, watch out for the water badgers. Also note that there were several other "worm" mobs in the water, and although the didn't come to Caora's aid, they will aggro if you get close enough to them.

5. Reward: 9194 experience points and the "Jewel of Speed" that adds +5 to your speed stat.

The reward was nice, and the extra experience gave a good boost into getting level 12!

You got lucky. I soloed this one with my hero. Had no way to pull so waded in and proceeded to slay Caora. She was easy enough, but the worms DID aggro me. I killed one, but the other got me. I left a grave where I can't get to it, but I did finish the quest easy enough.

yes, it was lv 11 for me tonight. But for a 11 eldritch it was a clean solo, two bolts, two nukes :).

One thing to warn soloing casters about. The area around this lake has these nasty purple water badgers. I got eaten by one, they are in the water and on the surrounding shore. Oh, and various hostile human casters as well. Overall,
its a VERY dangerous area. Be careful :)

Had no problem with this one. As stated above, as a Ranger I got my jewel of speed immediately after killing 'The Mother of All Monsters." She did spawn a bunch of babies after she died, all conned blue to me at 11, but not knowing how they might aggro, I didn't attempt to kill any. plus 5 quickness jewel, not bad. Well worth the minimal effort.

I got this as a level 11 Tir quest from the Ranger guildmaster. I was asked to find and kill some "mother of all monsters" (can't remember the name). The place where it spawns is easy to find if you use the map that came with the game. It's the round pond to the right of Connia, branched off of the main Shannon Estuary river. The area is filled with non-agressive (and very purple to 11) Murmen and giant worm creatures that are aggressive, but beatable. The largest one was the creature I needed to kill, yellow to 11 and a bit tricky due to the fact that my blades had -1 damage on it and it's teeth had +2 on me. When dead, it gave me an exp bonus, completed the quest, and gave me the gem of quickness, jewelry slot, Ranger only, 5 quick.
