Characters that were created after Patch Version 1.79 do not receive this Epic quest.

This is a nested quest. There are four subquests involved in the completion of this epic.

The Runemaster trainer Signa,or Spiritmaster Dyre, in Jordheim, will give you a quest. They will send you to Anrid, who is located in a tavern near the north gate. Anrid will tell you the story of the Grenlock Crest and give you a quest to find Siv's Spirit in East Svealand.

Dyre says, "Hail Spiritmaster! Many great adventures await you, but you must first become aware of our past. [Anrid], a powerful Spiritmaster has decided to lead you along this path. Perhaps with her teaching and your adventurous spirit, the Grenlock clan can once again be united!"

You have been given the Grenlock Clan quest.

Dyre says, "I am glad to see you follow the path of the House of Hel! Anrid can be found at a tavern near the north gate of this city. Good hourney to you Spiritmaster!"

[Step #1] Speak to Anrid in Jordheim, inside a tavern next to the north gate. She will wishes to bind the spirits of the northland once more.

Anrid says, "Sit down my friend and let me tell you [a tale], a tale that you must understand to someday break the spirit bond in the northland."

Anrid says, "Many hundreds of years ago there was a great clan of Norsemen in the northland of Midgard. They were known as the Grenlock clan, and of them was a great chieftain who strove for peace and kinship among the people. the great man, chieftain Svan Alfevsin lived and worked among his people and was greatly respected. It seems that [history] is never kind to the good hearted, like Svan Alfevson.

Anrid says, "A great tragedy befell the northlands and their king. An unnatural winter befell the land of the north, known as Urfenlong, freezing the land and water tributaries solid. Being that the Grenlock clan had always lived in a harsh climate they prepared each year with grains and livestock for a harsh winter. However, nothing could have prepared them for the [Urfenlong]."

Anrid says, "In the third year of the Urfenlong, the land and the seasons were locked in a frozen icy grip. Svan Alfevson called upon his four sons and told them to begin gathering the northland armies and supplies still left. The old king wished for his sons to move the armies and peoples of the Grenlock southward to safety, away from the impending doom of the ice. Great ice sheets moved like living things in the far north, devouring everything in their path and the farthest points of civilization had already succumbed to [the ice]."

Anrid says, "As the ice moved closer and closer to Svergren Keep, the old king met with his sons one last time. Svan removed his own armor and divided it among his sons keeping only his helmet. Next the king took the Grenlock Crest, the family seal from upon the Keep's wall and with the blade of his battleaxe broke the seal into five pieces. Once again Svan divided the pieces of the crest, just as he did his own armor, and gave a piece to each of his four sons and [kept a piece] for himself."

Anrid says, "Svan's intention was that one-day, after the terrible unyielding winter that he and his sons would once again reunite and bring the Grenlock clan back together. Several says after Svan's sons left the northland, Svergird's Keep and its ancient stone walls were swept away by the white tide of ice and snow. The terrible storm took the old king with it, and all which remained of the northland. Svan's four sons, Coplin, Gunnar, Ove, and Div marched southward, tearing through [unknown territory]."

Anrid says, "They passed through Odin's Gate and into the untamed lands continuing to push southward, where they hoped the storm could not reach. The brothers hoped that the mountains of Odin's Gate would hold back the sheets of traveling ice, yet they knew it was not safe to stay that far north. The people of the northland continued to push forward for two years, never settling, always living in fear of what could come over the mountains and sweep them away. A year later due to starvation and exhaustion, the brothers stopped the clan and settled near the sea, [nestled safely] in the mountains near what is now Vasudheim."

Anrid says, "They hoped that the mountains would stop any invading force, including the elements. It just so happens that the brothers settled in the area that is known today as Jordheim. After several more years the clan had settled in their new home. The brothers once again gathered armies from the north. The intention was for the four of them to split up in the four directions, north, east, south, and west, and explore the new territory they would call home. [Siv was the first] of the brothers to push out of their new home and travel westward."

Anrid says, "Siv, the youngest of the brothers, put together a small following of an army and led them westward to that shore. Siv and his men settled in the area that is now known as East Svealand. It was here that his followers settled a small township and continued to explore the area in which they perceived to call home. Siv continued to live in East Svealand to the [end of his days] in peace."

Anrid says, "It is rumored that his [spirit still walks] the lands which he inhabited."

Anrid says, "You would be wise to seek Siv out and prove this rumor true!"

You have been given the Siv's Spirit quest.

Do the Siv's Spirit quest then return here for conclusion.

[Step #3] Return to Anrid when you have reached 20th level.

Anrid says, "Hail! Are you [ready to continue] along the path to unification?"

Anrid says, "As you know Siv had three more brothers. The second brother Coplin decided since Siv was making new settlements outside of their new home that he would patrol the land. Coplin's goal was to protect all those who survived the journey from the northland. Coplin made friends with many of the creatures that lived in the surrounding areas. It was his goal to make pacts with these creatures so that the land would stay [safe] for all those that lived there, both human and creature."

Anrid says, "Coplin was very successful in this attempt and many aggressions were worked through. Therefore many lived in peace during his lifetime. He lived a very long time, just as his brother Siv. His spirit resides on this plane in the forests of Myrkwood among his companions, the creatures of those forests. He may have information that will help you upon this journey. He can be found among the creatures of [Myrkwood]."

You have been given the Coplin's Spirit quest.

Anrid says, "Seek out Coplin's Spirit! Return to me when you have finished."

(Says [Step #3] (again, in your journal)
[Step #4] Perform the service required of you! Return the second piece of the Grenlock Crest!

[Step #4] Anrid of Jordheim will call upon you soon. Be ready!

[Step #4] (again) Locate Ove's missing crest piece within Myrkwood!

You will receive Fallen Warrior at level 25 for the third crest piece.

You have been given the Fallen Warrior quest.

Lastly you will receive the Forgotten Journey quest at level 30 for the fourth and final piece.

You have been given the Forgotten Journey quest.

[Step #5] Find the fourth piece of the Grenlock crest!

**Conclusion**

[Step #6] Learn from Anrid in Jordheim, how to make the crest whole.

Once you have turned in all four pieces of the Grenlock Crest to Anrid, she will return them to you and tell you to go visit the Dverge forge in Muspelheim. It is likely that you will have to kill seared skeletons or fire giants in order to raise your faction rating with the Dverge enough to approach their town without being slaughtered (If you are using a pet, you will not get a faction adjustment if your pet lands the final blow on an enemy). Give the four pieces of the crest to Sinyr, the Dverge smith. You will get XP for each piece handed over. Once you give him all four pieces youll witness an interesting ceremony and will inherit the finished Crest. Return it to Anrid for lofty praises, some XP, and your epic item.

Anrid says, "I cannot believe I hold all but the last piece of the crest! You have done wonders my friend! We have only to merge the five piece into one and [fulfill the wish] of a fallen king, now kept for hundreds of years."

Anrid says, "The crest pieces can only be merged in the fires of a [forge within Muspelheim]. It is our hopes that should be this accomplished, Svan Alfevson will hear our calling and deliver unto us the final piece."

Anrid says, "Take these four pieces and seek out the dverge fire-eaters within Muspelheim. They may distrust you at first, but I am told they hate the fire giants that also walk within the fire realm. If you are able to make into the forge of five anvils, deliver all four piece to one named Sinyr. He will do his best to fashion the Grenlock [crest pieces] into one."

Anrid says, "If the last of the five piece are delivered unto you, Sinyr will make the crest while once more. I look forward to your return! You champion our cause, and we are honored you have taken on this task. Fare thee well!"

You receive a Grenlock Crest piece from Anrid!

[Step #7] Take all four Grenlock crest piece to the forge within Muspelheim. Pass them to one named Sinyr. The dwarves are wary of strangers. You may be forced to destroy charred skeletons or slay in order to gain their favor!

Sinyr says, "What have you Kobold? I have little time for games."

A few comments on the last stage since it is not very well documented...

You take the pieces to the dwarf outpost in SW Museph. at approx 21000 by 54000 on a small rock island ringed by lava.

The dwarves were agressive to me initially. Killing fire giants does NOT increase your faction with them. You need to kill the seared skeletons nearby (to the left as you leave the island the dwarves are on). These are easy kills solo at the level you get the quest at.

I had to kill about 10 full spawns there to get to neutral (I had killed two dwarves earlier when they attacked me so I may have had to do more than some). You need to gain in Dverge faction. I did get the faction fron a named fire giant but not from the normal ones and I scoured the zone looking for them all.

Note that Sinyr is at a DIFFERNET faction LEVEL than the other dwarves. The dwarves in the workshop became neutral to me long before Sinyr did.

BONEDANCERS
The final reward for when you turn in the complted crest to Anrid is:

Boned Mystical Vest
Bonedancer Only
Cloth, AF 32
Absorb 0, Con/Dur/Qua 100%.
Bon 15%
Hits 15
Crush 4%
Slash 4%
Piety 10

Good luck all.

Ulga wanders around. She was not at the /loc given when I got there also, but I patrolled around for awhile and then - badda bing badda boom - she's a norsewoman with a yellow cape. Right click on her and she asks what you want. Say grenlock crest and she attacks.

Why is it a bug? I completed it with no problems at all.
Mystics only

Clearly this quest is not for all, as stated at the top. Only Mystics can get it as any other class that tries to talk with Signa or Dyre are told they must seek training elsewhere.
Definitely not

This is definitely not for all. It is runemaster and spiritmaster only. I've finished the SM version completely.
Not for all

I don't think this quest is for all classes.
I have been trying to get it since lvl 15 and am now lvl 19. I have no pending quests in my log.
Oh yeah, I'm a hunter.. think this might be just for casters.. in which case the sub quests are caster only as well..
Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't this the caster epic series of quests?

Hmm Oh well, plenty of other stuff to do !

Part 4
# Mar 14 2002 at 11:59 AM Rating: Default
You need to go to Muspelheim for the final part of the quest and kill Gunnar. He conned blue to me at 31 lvl. He sits on top of a group of pillars close to the bridge to the fire giant castle (Can see the ruins on top of a hill from the bottom of the valley, SW of fire giant bridge). Just blast the hell out of him and run, you will be given the second to last grenlock crest piece as soon as he dies. You need to run because about 8-10 of his skeleton buddies come after you when you attack him. Once you get the last piece, you need to go to Anrid (for the runecarver part of the quest), she will give you the other 3 pieces you collected earlier and send you back to Muspelheim (back and forth, back and forth...) to give them to a NPC in the Southern dwarven village (can't remember the name). He forges them back into the crest at which time a really big spirit dude appears and gives you the completed Grenlock crest, you take it back to Anrid, and she gives you a magic vest and evryone lives happily ever after.
part three
# Feb 25 2002 at 12:00 PM Rating: Default
as anyone comleted the quest there r no clues to the last part
RE: part three
# Mar 15 2002 at 3:34 AM Rating: Default
Part three is not the last part but here we go. I have stolen this bit from daoc.warcry.com:

"You must find Coplin, brother of Siv in Myrkwood. He is located behind Askheim (werewolf) fort along the southwest shore. He stands in front of the log throughout the day and night (loc 8516,55874). Talk to him to find out what to do next.
Next you must talk to Tradande, a tree spirit along the edge of Skona Ravine. You can find him by going to the standing stones northwest of Coplin. From there, go south west until you see a big ravine. Go around to the left side of this ravine and you will find the named tree spirit on a small hill (50k, 31k). Talk to him and he will give you the crest piece.
The last message Tradande gives you is to run, for Evil is upon you. He's right. A group of werewolves come along and WILL kill you if you don't get out of there quickly.

Return the quest piece to Anrid."

This is what I did and this is what you have to do. Next you have to kill skeletons around Gunnar for a while until dverges become neutral to you. You need to kill around 50-100.
Ulga

Spawns around the crossroads. The 2 grey ghouls are her pets that she sometimes summons.

Coplins is past the Askhiem WW fort. Go left along the lake, but watch for dirges. He will be by the log on shore.

I had searched for Ulga for three game nights without a sign of her at the LOC given in the quest. Finally I continued a little more NW and found two grey Wayward Ghouls. I killed those two and a few minutes later she spawned. I was at 36806, 20235, 5900 and looking in direction 339 and she was right in front of me. Conned Yellow to me at 15 but wasn't a hard kill after I froze her to the ground. Runic Ward helped out tremendously though. Also, She spawned during the day. Hope this helps.

I found Ulga at 37500,25170 at about 2:00am. It's NW of the blodfelag camp, lightercolored groundcover and right next to a pine tree (sorry, I know that's not REAL helpful. The whole area looks similar.) Cons blue at 15. Finding her took me a little while. Rather frustrating, but finished. Gloves are 2 pts Summ, 1 pt Str and 1 pt Pow.

Where's Ulga?
# Feb 01 2002 at 5:22 PM Rating: Default
Cannot find Ulga at that loc either at day or night time. Something I have to kill first to make her spawn? Of course I have the third part active (as well as still having the second part active).
