DISCLAIMER: Your Steps and Tasks may be different

Per patch 1.76:
- Wizard Lost - The Green Witch may now be found at night in Salisbury Plain.

Characters that were created after Patch Version 1.79 do not receive this Epic quest.

This is the subquest in the Legend of the Lake series.

You are asked to learn all you can about Merlin. She first sends you to talk to Olorustos at the Lethantis Association. The Lethantis Association is behind Camp. Station in the Camp. Forest. When you talk to him, you will have to mention Merlin to him, he will not lead you on. He will send you to talk to Scribe Eril in Adribard's Retreat.

Eril will send you to talk to the mage Cynwik at the Snowdonia border keep. After talking to Cynwik the Wizard, he sent me back to Lethantis Association to talk to Olorustos once again.

Then after talking to Olorustos, he sent me to Camelot to talk to Magess Islia in Merlin's Tower. First I asked her about
[Merlin] and then asked her about Merlin being on another [plane] of existence. After talking to Magess Islia, she will ask you to kill the Green Witch and return a Wizard Locked box to her.

The Green Witch can be found at night in Salisbury Plains (loc=21736, 45480, 2808 Salisbury Plains (it has been mention the loc is actually 45480, 2808 only, please submit your findings to clarify this information, thanks!).

When your return to Lady Nimue, she will award you experience and and an item. These are rewards for completion pf Legend of the Lake, but listed for your convenience.

Sent me straight to Eril to start with, not to Olorustus.

Armsman -- Sleeves of the Stoic
Friar -- Traveler's Leggings
Scout -- Gauntlets of Archery
Theurgist -- Necklace of Elemental Influence

HATEFUL quest

This is part of the Defenders' level 15 quest. The first part, Barbarian Tales, was reasonable. Go from Avalon to Swanton Keep, kill one gobbie at the the camp near Snowdonia, kill another near Tepok's, return to Swanton, then back to Avalon.

THEN we get this one. Go to Camp Forest. Then back to Avalon. Then to Snowdonia. Then to Camelot. Then to Caer Ulwych to kill a mob. Then back to Camelot. Then and only then, back to Avalon to finish this up.

If you take horses, you will spend a huge amount of money, as many consecutive destinations require changing mounts (Avalon to Snowdonia, for example.) If you run, it will take hours to finish.

This is an interesting quest, and necessary if you want to get your epic armor. But it is unnecessarily complex, expensive and time-consuming, far outstripping the quest rewards and experience.

I don't know about you, but I do quests while I'm doing other things like trying to lvl... After I spoke to Nimue, I killed some mobs solo and have other quests that require that I take care of things in the same general vicinity that Nimue will send me. Why not!? It's just fun and being my first character in a game like this, it's cool to get a feel for the geography!

When you get to the Snowdonia Station, continue on the road until you get to the VERY END...there is the Snowdonia Border Keep (the place where you can go to RvR in the frontier). Up on the very top floor of the fortress is Cynwik..he's amidst the other wizards there overlooking the frontier.
He'll say hello and ask what you want, ask him, "What of Merlin?" And so on and so forth until he tells you to seek another person out for info.
Good Luck!

Why is there such big thing about gaining xp and stuff, whatever happened to the fine art of roleplaying??

I'm currently on the quest, and I am quite enjoying it more for the story than anything else, it's another nice twist on the old Arthur legends.

Why don't you lot just stop whinging and enjoy the game. It's for fun. If you don't like it, then don't play it. Go back you EQ or whatever. I keep meeting players who are just power hungry and play for levels. I am in a guild, and am having a whale of a time, just roleplaying and interacting with other players.

Be grateful you are playing with other humans and not with crappy computer AI players....

Jeez, put a sock in it and have fun with game.

OK...if you've done this, then accept my apologies and ignore the suggestion.

But....

As a Theurgist, after I gave the Wizard locked box to Magess Islia in Camelot, I go the "You have completed the Wizard Lost Quest" but received no XP and no necklace. Upon checking my Journal, I noticed that the original Quest- Lady of the Lake 15- was still open and said I needed to 'return to Lady Nimue'. My guess here is that, whatever reward you have coming will be given upon one more trip back to see Lady Nimue.
getting your reward
# Mar 12 2002 at 2:31 PM Rating: Default
Doing this quest alone does not get your reward. You have to do the quests "Wizard Lost" and "Barbaric Tales" BOTH. After these quests are completed, return to Lady Nimue. She will tell you that you need to be level 20 to further continue helping or something like that. At this point and this point only, one of the rewards should appear in your inventory based on what class you are. At 16 I had completed everything and got the Sleeves of the Stioc and they rock.

Different Order
# Feb 06 2002 at 2:57 PM Rating: Decent
I am in the middle of this quest... tired of riding a horse though. I was sent by Lady Nimue first to Snowdonia, then to Adribard's Retreat and then to Camelot... I found Lady Nimue in the Swamps and was wondering if this order was because she was south (south Nimue sends you north first, north Nimue sends you south...).

Anyway, it's a lot of horseback riding. Hope the final result is worth it!

i dunno, depends on whether you think a necklace of 1 to all your skills is "worth it" ;). theurgist reward is the necklace of elemental influence.
Killing the Shaman
# Jan 31 2002 at 12:53 AM Rating: Default
I did the shaman at 23, and was a lil scared from the stuff she spawned.. one yellow one blue and the blue shaman. I ran as far as i could towards the bridge and they gave up. When i went back the spawns were normal acting creatures, so i pulled them and took them down with ease. About this time another guy shows up and i want to make sure he got the quest too so he talk to her and she again spawns the guys. Well this time we just concentrated on her. As soon as she died the spawns died too. Though some lil punks did agro, but were easy compared to how the explaination sounds above of having to deal with the whole group.
