Characters that were created after Patch Version 1.79 do not receive this Epic quest.

Got the Quest from the Cleric Trainer in Camelot, who gave me a letter to give to the Captain in the middle of Humberton. Who then tells you to go to Cemmeth Budgwold, who is one of the guards by the drawbridge in Cotswold village, and gives you one silver and some copper. Cemmeth then says that the riverbanks are plagued by River Sprites (not Spritelings), and to bring him 3 of their toes. Whenever you kill one, you always get a toe. Go back to Cemmeth and give him a toe, he than asks for the 2nd and 3rd.

Rewards:
  • Blessed Pendant -- Paladin

  • Ring of Rejuvination -- Cleric

  • Rewards:

I started this quest at level 7... Lt Jursen ask me to kill 2 dwarves... but I have been killed during the rush ! (Hum... Dwarves were blue and I didn't resist with my poor scout constit. :) )

Now I'm level 9 and I still have in my quest log: "kill 2 dwarf raiders" but I can't anymore !
(Lt Jursen doesn't tell anything to me - except the Ripper quest)

What can I do ? Wait another player to trigger the dwarf rush ?

I got this one at Level 7 fom my trainer. However, I wasn't able to solo it until Level 8. The sprites love to BAF, so caution is required. Spritelings will not drop toes, only sprites, so be sure of what you are dealing with. Also, watch out for Sepucoth, a big sprite who hangs out near the sunken boat. Once you get all three toes, head back to the guard. The Blessed Pendant is a NICE magic item, which I am still using at Level 14 (it cons blue).

Make sure you kill Sprites and not spritelings. The sprites are the ones that have a spriteling linked to them. They wander near a sunken boat and sometimes drop a cask of cider, which is for another quest.

Perhaps something went awry when i was given this quest....
I too am a cleric and was given this quest by my trainer. I went to Humberton then I was told to see Cemmeth Budgwold. I searched everywhere in Cotswold where i then realized he was a gurad. I clicked on him and he responded with "Oh you have been sent by_____ (some NPC i hadn't heard of) the next thing i know am trying to get these supid sprite toes... way too difficult for me to do alone since the sprites off the banks in Cotswold come in pairs...
Maybe it was a glitch, but i did start out with the travelers way quest...
Since I'm not sure what happened to me, I sadly cannot help with your quest which in probably completed by now...
If anyone has any idea how i got such a mixed up quest, please let me know- i was really aggravated trying to get those dang sprite toes alone...lol

I think I have figured this out-- this quest we speak of is actually the church aid quest. I was confused that after i accepted the quest that my journal showed it to be the traveler's way. Have these quests been combined? Or are they separate? At any rate I did receive the belt and ring though i didn't realize why at first.
At any rate it was a worthy quest......

...for some reason I got this quest at the 10th lvl...I did go and train at my guild masters every lvl though. I had some weird problems with some quests though...I finally got them straightened out just before I hit lvl 10 so you may have to complete some of your current quests before you can get this one. (I finished the Heart of Sephucoth and Ripper quest rights before the guild master gave me this one.*)

So, I get the dwarf raiders version of the quest...I'd recommend you do it during the day. I did it at night...Lieutenant Jenson said something like "There they are on the hill, charge them!" ...well, I went to the wrong hill, and when I turned around, they were all beating on him. I didn't actually get to kill one before he had slain them all. I check my quest journal...it says I still need to kill 2 dwarf raiders....crud. Luckily it seems that any 2 dwarf raiders will do...I ran over to the nearby dwarf camp and waxed a couple of raiders, and sure enough my journal updated and told me to go speak with Lieutenant Jenson again. I got the recommendation and from that the belt.

So...if you haven't gotten this quest yet, it may be because you need to finish other quests first...I got the Ripper quest from Lieutenant Jenson as well, perhaps I needed to complete it before I could get the next quest from him...*shrug*.

But as with all quests, I believe that under the right circumstances you can recieve a quest at *any* time after you are high enough lvl for it...so if you hit lvl 20 and you find a lvl 5 quest you want to do, I'd almost guarantee you can still get it.

Gw..uh...I forget how to spell the server name. Heh.

*As an interesting note...I couldn't seem to complete the Heart of Sephucoth quest until I finished the Ripper quest...and both require that you get "a polished bone" from the large skeletons throughout Camelot Hills. This may have caused some sort of conflict...I killed hundreds (well....a friggen lot) of large skeles and got no bone...but after I got the bone I needed for the Ripper quest I was able to get the bone for the Sephucoth quest quite easily. (Btw, the bones are different and won't work in both quests "generically".) I intend to report this as some sort of bug...besides, have 2 quests require the "same" drop from the same mobs is prolly a bad idea anyway...

1.Talk to you guild leader and he will tell you to go to Humberton and talk to Bline.
    A. Bline will send you on two smaller quests that give about 980 exp and some coin each.

    2. Return after the second time he sends you out and he will give you the supplies and tells you to go north to Snowdonia station and talk to Thol.

    3. Talk to Thol and she gives you some exp and sends you north to Swanton station to deliver the supplies.

    4. Get to Swanton station and look for Ley, turn in the supplies and you are rewarded with (at least I was) Sleeves of might, FA 14 AB 19 and 3 str and 6 Hps, green in color.

Over all I got 1 and 2/10 bubs worth of exp about 2 silver and a great Item of course getting the supplies to the out post was the most rewarding part of it all (wink)

    # Oct 26 2001 at 12:48 PM Rating: Decent

If you talk to the Paladin trainer in Camelot when you reach lvl 7 she gives you this quest.

Step #1: Deliver the message your trainer gives you to Captain Ryder in the town of Humberton, which is north of Camelot.

The Reward for doing this part is 1 silver and some copper.

Step #2: Ryder asks you to go and speak with Cemmeth Budgwold in Cotswold, he's actually stood by the bridge between Camelot and Cotswold.

He asks you to kill River Sprites (not spritelings) and collect their toes. You can find sprites easily if you follow the river shore south, but mind cos they con blue at lvl 7.

Once youve got 3 sprite toes go and hand them in to Cemmeth for your reward.

Reward: Some nice XP and a Blessed Pendant( Strength + 1, Chants + 1)

    # Oct 25 2001 at 4:12 AM Rating: Default
Did it as a Theurgist just now. Pretty easy quest, just involved going to my Camelot Guild Master, then to the guard tower in the southern mountains with the two dwarf camps surrounding it. When you talk to the guard, a bunch of dwarf raiders (all blue to 7 I think) run by. You have to kill two of them but I couldn't tell if you have to get the running ones or if you could kill the ones in the camp. Either way, I did it, talked to the guard again, he gave me a note, I took it to Humberton, gave it to a guard there and got a nice hat. 7 AF, 3 int, 1 pow and invisible so I can wear a non-hooded cloak without looking funny.

If I talk to him , he said nothing.
If I type task , he said that I am too low level (I am level 8). I don't see the dwarf raiders you told about :-(

The sorcerer's version has you killing a weakened demon which can be found behind the fallen tower in Camelot Hills. The fallen tower is east of the Salisbury Bridge and on the north side of the river. Do not go into the demon infested area where the Grumoz demons are, the weakened demon roams outside that area and behind it.

I had this problem at 7th and 8th level. Noticed that I still had the Throatripper quest to do, so I finished that, and when I returned to the scout trainer in Camelot he gave me the Traveler's Way quest. My suggestion to you is to make sure that you don't have any outstanding quests, or perhaps it's just a bug with the Throatripper quest being incomplete.

The wizard Traveller's Way starts in Camelot, where you are sent to Cotswald by your Academy Trainer. There is a merchant in Cotswald that you talk to, I don't have the name next to me. He sends you north, past the boars in the black hills to kill the giant spiders with the "hidden eye". The easiest place I found was one that spawns outside the station that you can ride to from West Gate. Kill the spider, gain the eye as a quest item. The eye is a jewelry slot item, giving 2 to int and 1 to power. Return to Cotswald via the horse route, give the gem to the merchant, and he will hand it back, giving the xp reward, almost a full bubble at lvl 9. All in all, a very tidy quest. If anyone has information about a better location for the giant spiders, feel free to post it.

I did the armsman version of this quest at lv9. Fairly trivial at that level (wish I'd pursued it earlier) and was awarded a pair of Armsman Chain Arms. AF14, 27% dmg absorb, 3str, 6hps

do you HAVE to be 7?
    # Oct 20 2001 at 4:08 PM Rating: Default
Meaning, do you have to STAY 7 in order to do quest? Or can u get say level 8 or something and do it? asked a few people but the varied answers have got me really confused...

My understanding of this type of quest is that you have to be a certain level to receive it, but, once you have received it, you can finish it whenever. This is my understanding, but I could very well be wrong. Typically, I tend to pursue quests immediately. Patience may be a virtue, but it's damn boring. =]

I did the quest at 8, but I don't think it would work at 9. If you are doing it at 7, you may want to bring a friend. I liked this one actually.

Ive done this quest twice, once with an armsman and once with a sorceror.

With arsman I got a set of sleeves, great sleeves, f14 abs 27 cant recall the stats exactly but thats close.

With the sorceror, I ended up with a oracle gem which gives plsu 3 int also, on the mob I had to kill there was a + 3 str ring, so that was a super way to spend that hour.

Quest is easy and is a MUST for ALL level 7 chars.

I need help .. I am a Pal at lvl 7 when I accepted the quest but b4 I complete it I bump up to lvl 8. Now I can't get sprite toe anymore..... :-(

Suggestion? Can I pair up with another lvl7 Pal?

Have you tried? You really should be able to get the toes, as they are not normal drop, but quest drop, and they should go in your inventory directly. Not sure every river sprite gives a toe though...

You are instructed to talk to Lt Jursen in the South Black Mountains, he asks you to Kill two Dwarven Raiders, these range from red to blue at level 7. Be patient and the blue ones will spawn and work fine. You do not have to kill the ones that spawn imediatly when you speak to the Lt.

Once you kill two of these talk to the LT. again and he gives you a note to take to the Captain Guard in Humberton, who will give you the "Armsmen Sleeve's". Chain armor with good stats, dark blue in color on a Highlander, and also adds 5 Str.
    Regarding "Versions" of this Quest
    # Oct 17 2001 at 5:27 PM Rating: Decent
I've done this quest with 2 different minstrels since the game was released: The first minstrel had to kill a weakened demon wandering outside the demon ruins, while the second had to kill a giant spider in the black mountains. Returned different quest items to different npcs (but recieved same reward -- Svelte Leggings). A friend had a similar experience.

So, from what i've seen any class could get any one of the quest versions listed here, or perhaps there are a few versions for each class. The reward will be specific to your class.

You don't get better items because you group, it's just easier to do the quest, and if several in the party have the same quest, you all get the quest item at the first kill.

In the Friar version, you are directed to talk to Lt. Jursen in the S. Black Mountains guard tower (it's west of Vestula Abbey, in a valley). Jursen will tell you to kill 2 dwarven raiders (they are in abundance in the valley and con blue-yellow to my level 7 Friar).

After killing the dwarves, Jursen gives you a recommendation to return to Captain Ryder in Humberton Village. He gave me a Magic girdle. Pluses to piety and hit points? Not sure on that.
