IMO they put Mids at a great disadvatage if we are taking a keep and it's defended. We can't compete with the amount of casters Albs and Hibs have.

Lesson learned, don't go a knocking on a defended keep.

I don't like the new mid keeps the freaking parapets are too damn tall and you can hardly see over them let alone between them. They restrict your line of sight hardcore+the height is such your 1500 crap is out of range. Running around and fighting inside 4 poly barren 7 foot ceiling corridors really sucks for visibility as well. I heard the side doors are immune to damage.... no idea why--it's a door make it bustable.

(my comments based on defending Bledmeer about an hour ago)

Wish they would re design all the keeps to look like........real historical reference

Cerno,

That's not really a fair statement. You "could", but you choose to run in a group that is about as bad as you can get for keeps.

It's kind of a problem that is permeating all of the realms right now. People are moving away from casters outright.

Jacq I am past the point of civility with Mythic.

Hibs do it in multiplayer mode!

LOL Mythic finally throws casters a bone where they have some use instead of donating rps to overpowered melee gank groups and this moron complains about it. You may want to "think outside the box" and group some casters then you might not be at such a disadvantage.

People have been saying for months have melee groups are overpowered, and they are the only way to run a truly effective gank group. While somewhat true, people forget that these groups sacrafice keep fighting ability for open field fighting ability. I haven't seen it in awhile, not since the days of Hiro+Maliggn, and the Tehlien group before resists, but I'd almost guess a group made properly for keeps would be very dangerous in that environment, even with the current resist system. First off I wasnt' in a EF group, was a pickup group and we had 3 runies in group, so I would hardly call that a melee group. And it was 4 groups of mids vs however many albs where there. Basically you sit trying to bust down the door while they run around on the ramparts nuking you, so you have to hide in the back corners under the roofing there. They can port in and out of those side doors and you can't attack the door.

Second I say mids are disadvatged do to the fact mids don't really have many casters.

And Gts was doing a fine job ghost dotting everyone.

Very ignorant thing to say. The keep changes in no way throw a bone to mages. Mages still have the same advantages they have always had. Also, mages are useless 99% of the time in non keep warfare, so what's the point of grouping them again? I really feel sorry for people like raziz and jubs who's mains are mages. When I get fed up with mine I can always go back to my healer.

Truth hit the nail on the head.

Typical Mid groups are built for fighting in the open, not for taking and defending keeps. Without GTAoE and PBAoE, you're not going to be successful around keeps. Time for a little more versatility imo which is what we're trying to do. Our last successful group night featured: Skald, Savage, Savage, Pac/Mend Healer, Aug/Mend Healer, Aug Shaman, Darkcarver, Suppression SM. Jund Bloodaxe - 50th RR 5.9 Berserker - Palomides
Hammer Tyme - 50th RR 4.2 Skald - Palomides
Syf Stormcrow - 50th RR 3.6 Huntress - Palomides

I was in Cerno's group as one of the three runemasters (and let me tell you...I always end up in the group with >2 casters)

getting perfed in the courtyard sucked. go pick on a warrior or something
aoe'ing people defending through the windows was nice. lots of damage there
I can imagine that denfese is gonna be interesting, since there is a lot of courtyard to stand in, yet not much window space, and I can tag 50% of the tower from the lower window with an aoe. Yet the defense has the advantage of being able to see all the people coming in and knowing where they are going.

I actually like the new setup. Then again, I'm a caster. It's obviously going to be a change, and I might change my mind, but initially, it was a good use of aoe's

Some thoughts on the new layout:

1. We tested this on Pend and provided the input that consistent with your experience. Go figure. In particular, the blind spot under the walkway in the Mid keeps is ugly.

2. Given that LOS sux, we havent played with the new keeps enough to find the ways to take a defended keep. Example: Remember when Gts went all ubr and we had to learn NOT to move away from the outer wall or you got the entire attacking force dotted? The same thing applys here. Under the new format, you can put up a ram on the second door and run it from under the protected overhead. The keep LOS issues work both ways except for the NPC archers, so you can stand at the base of the keep and be out of LOS.

3. Make more RC runies. Then lobby for better keep attack spells.

4. I remember when we couldnt crack an AP defended keep. Part of it was, 3 fg of Mids did not have the ranged damage that 1fg of rr5+ Albs do in static defense. (This was the classic AP farm the Mids scenario.) As I remember we just let them rot. They eventually got bored and a) logged to an alt or b) went to go get another keep. They cant do the first one anymore and "Mids for da win" in the second. Or port over and start taking Alb forts.

5. Finally, try trebs on the inner keep. Especially grapeshot on the upper doors. Grapeshot is supposed to be spherical so it will reach to the lords room and down to the doors, supressing the casters ability to cast. (How does that work? Interupt system is based on the ATTACKING WEAPONS speed. So you get hit with grapeshot and you dont cast until the base reset time of the treb happens.. Something like 30 secs. ugh..)

I'm not sure what to make of the new keeps. Maybe it's just a matter of adjusting tactics. There's no reason we have to stand in the courtyard per se, could leave a few running a ram while the rest wait by those side doors ready to pounce on anyone that pops out. Put the shield stunning warriors by each side door and some stealthers in the mix, no one will be popping out there and surviving unless a whole group comes out.

Grapeshot has the widest radius.

IIRC it's either 500 or 800 radius. Basically it's huge compared the other kinds of ammo you can use for a catapult.

It does a little less damage, but the radius especially for a defended keep can more than make up for the reduction.

Umm. Cerno was in our group of three RM's, and would have been four if we had another healer to replace Kegan (Askar's healer). It was Jeho, Gustaf, and myself that were the RM's.

Gustaf you know you love grouping with only RM's!!!. jk

Btw...Nice ghost dotting at Bled....
