Post Level 20 Kill Tasks: Notes, Commentary, Updates, Credits, etc.

Commentary

Post-level 20 kill tasks were introduced with patch 1.51 and are for characters of level 21+. Here's the blurb from the 1.51 patch notes (World Notes section):

"General Quests. We're continuing our introduction of a new type of quest intended to pick up where kill tasks leave off. These new quests are a storyline-based type of kill task. There are 21 of these quests being added for each realm, and they are intended for players between levels 21 and 41. To maximize your benefit we recommend you do them at the suggested level, but you may need to bring a partner to ensure your success in slaying the appropriate monster. Speak with your local barkeep for more info."
These are not like the kill tasks that you can obtain for characters up to 20th level. These tasks are gained by right-clicking on the task giver and reading what mob will grant the item that the person desires. Armed with this knowledge, you go fight the mob, wait for the needed item to drop, then take it back to the task giver who then gives you XPs for each item turned in. Note that item names are capitalized, unlike dropped loot items. It is known that some task givers may grant XPs multiple times, but there are limits (largely unknown at this time). For example, Maible (Tir Uphorst) will grant XPs up to 15 times at which time she announces that "the ring has been found" and she stops accepting any more gizzards. Also note that the task items will not stack. :(

Updates

2004-12-27 Important tip and update!
For all kill task drops, the max turn-in and stack-size are now both 20. You still must un-stack them 1-by-1 prior to turning them in. Each item is worth .1 bubs of XPs, so all 20 are worth 2 full bubs. Delving an item will also now provide details about the task, including the min- and max-level of the item, plus the name and location of the NPC to whom you turn in the items. Because each item's XP reward scales with the toon level, save them until the last level that you can turn them in, up to level 49. Why? Because you'll get 2 bubs of XPs no matter what level you turn the items in at. Thus, for example, a L45-50 item saves you 1 hour of leveling time at L45, but it saves you 4 hours of time at L49. So, save them as long as you can!

I removed the "Max Turn-In" column as it's now known that it is 15 for all XP drops.

I improved the page and table formatting. Click on a table header to sort by that column, click anywhere else in the table to toggle the table borders on/off.

I have started adding Shrouded Isles kill task info here as well. Please help me fill this in with data as soon as possible, ok? Thanks! :)

I added a feature to allow people to alter font on-the-fly to make the page easier to print.

I alphabetized everything to make things easier to find.

Not all characters can gain every task as the task's mob must be of an appropriate level to the character. If the mob is too tough, no message will appear. It is possible (but not yet known) that if the character is too high (as compared to the task's mob), you also might not get the message.

Note by Gwyddno on XPs earned:
"For comparison, a normal yellow at 24 is somewhere in the high 300K to low 400K range without camp bonus. From the drop rates reported, I'm guessing I could probably get 10% to 15% of the experience I need to get to 25 through these rewards, depending on the limit. I'd have to solo the full level to do that and that's unlikely to happen, but if that is the ratio then it's a nice little boost for soloers."
(Thanks, Gwyddno!)

Some people are reporting an XP reward of about 10% of what's listed in the above table. If this happens to you, PLEASE email me at SPAM_DAoC_Whomp@Yahoo.com (remove the " SPAM_" as it's there to reduce spam) it to me so I can track it and see what Mythic is doing. For now, I have a theory that I'd like to prove: chrs that are far above the level requirement for a task might be getting their XP nerfed to 10% of what they'd normally gain. Again, this is only a theory, so please help me prove/disprove it.

Some people are reporting that they're getting varying XP amounts for task turn-ins after they go up a level. In particular, it seems that some XP amounts may go down as your chr level goes up. It's only been reported a couple times, so it may just be a fluke/bug, but keep an eye out anyway.
