I would hope Mythic stops this stupid thing they put in.. and make soloing fun again.

The argument that Mythic would likely make is that the game is about realm vs. realm, not soloer vs. soloer or gank group vs. gank group. You know the risks, if you're deep in an enemy's frontier and alone or just with one or two other people, there's a chance that you'll come to an unpleasant end due to a patrol.

They need MORE guards. As it is I think the keep lords are far too cheap. These pathetic guard patrols cannot even stop a single 8 man pick-up group as it is. What self respecting realm wants to have such weakly defended keeps. I think the true petition would be for the Lords to open of the coffers a bit and actually try to defend their homes.

I do like the speed idea though.

I don't know about the rest of you, but on our group on Iseult we've seen the 'guard zerg' that roams from ailinne. I imagine this would be quite a head ache to the hibs coming out of DL to see 12-15 red/orange con guards zerging in front of DL. The guards don't roam seperately like they do at other keeps, they tend to spawn, and run together. THere have been a few times when our group has been wiped b/c of instantly having 15 red/orange con guards on us, we either can't get teh CC off, or your healers get owned b/c they have so many guards on them at once.

I can see your point though w/ a smaller make up, the guard patrols in general can kill you. You can look at it from either side though, the side of the small group in enemy, or their own frontier, but near a keep currently invaded by enemies, it sux to have a guard patrol gank you, especially since a lot of times they don't show up until you've run through them. On the other side of the coin, the patrols are SUPPOSED to protect their 'realm', that being, its their JOB to kill enemies. Although the zerg of guards near ailinne needs to be fixed, some day I will remember to take a SS and send it to mythic to perhaps fix the coding.. this isn't just one server, it happens on both Bors and Iseult at least in my knowledge.

Not sure if theres a 'fix' to the problem.. I can see it from both sides-it is a nice way to track the movements of enemies in your territory, or near a keep controlled in foreign ground, which again, depends on which side you're on if thats good or bad

*shrug* I think the speed thing sounds like a good idea.. increases w/ lvl of the keep.. although right now you can barely out run the guards on speed 5 and sprint heh

I think that the further from the keep, the lower con the guards should be.

If you want to run right by Bolg ( maybe like as close as the old tower ) then you should get a nice red con patrol.

But if you are like on the road or further they should be yellow or somehting.. I dunno, I just hate running my shade to uppland because its not running, its a 30-45 minute trek.

Less speed = more patrols.
More patrols = more fighting = same effect.

Guards are fine as they are. Infiltrating an enemy realm is no easy task. Either you prepare for it or you are eaten piece meal.

Less speed would be good as it would give a small group to escape but on the flipside it means more patrols - even harder to dodge one patrol if 6 of them are around instead of one.


During all my time in the frontiers (and I did a lot of xping even in enemy frontiers) we had once a problem with guards. Else it was either mobs or a gank group (in case of Albs because they were lost and missed way to Emain wink ).

So from my side a NO to any changes. They work quite fine - I more likely get fined for speeding by a patrol once in a while than have to fight my way through any frontier all the time and constantly.
