Noticed this little gem tucked away into the patch notes for 1.87e

Anyone know what this means? Like they cant cast underwater?

it means that they can't be on the surface nuking the living [mod] out of some poor slob that managed to duck under... and vice versa

lol nice analogy

But didnt Mythic recently remove the barrier from the top of the water to underneath? to stop the water bobbing exploit? I might be wrong, thought I read that somewhere.

no. I wish. Heck, everyone wishes... well, most everyone anyway. That'll be a massive undertaking and they simply didn't|don't have the resources they can allocate to that. There was some discussion about it at the last Vegas Roundtable and DJ Larkin explained how long it takes to recalculate even a small change to a small section of land (in all fairness we were discussing pet pathing, but water falls into a similar category) I don't remember what it was for just the Labyrinth zones, just that I was blown away by the sheer scope of it all.

1.87b

Water Changes

- There will no longer be a one-second delay for characters when diving or surfacing.

- Players can now target enemies through the water. If you are above the water, either on land or swimming on the surface, you can hit players below the water.

- If you are underwater, you can only attack a player who is in or under the water.

- Enemy player names will not display if you are looking at them through the water from above the surface regardless of how close they are to you.

- You also cannot attack a no-land NPC, like a shark, who is underwater from the land. As opposed to a land NPC that happens to be underwater.

What the pets note means, pets can't cast from below to on top, but behave like players :P

tera, you are correct in 1.87b about targeting and hitting players under water. Here are the notes you referenced from 1.87b. Sounds like it's players only, not pets as Rags mentions above. (full patch notes at http://www.camelotherald.com/patches.php)
