Dual Sun Swords really destroy Ministrels.

And I like to Purge the second of their stun or mez, never the first.

People always say how you are supposed to avoid FZ, but I have no idea.

I usually chain Snow Shower and hit sprint against them if I think they are going to run. Burning an end regen potion is a good idea too.

Two things to remember folks..

1. Last I checked (last week) the Albs on MLF had all 6 relics.. thats +20% on both melee, and magic. This would help explain the consistant higher magic damage from the thurg, and minstrel DD's. As well as decent damage from the minstrel melee as well.

2. The minstrel was buffed VS unbuffed archer. That alone can turn the tide. fighting unbuffed VS a fully buffed oponent is usualy a loosing proposition, hence why there are so many buff bot accounts now. There are always exceptions of course..but sadly this is currently the norm. And we all know how ovepowered most classes can get with full red buffs VS a unbuffed class.

Though it is realy to bad that archers don't have a "Snare" bow style in there spec..Just lower the damage accordingly like the difference bettween a normal and a snare nuke. Most other spec's/spells have something like it.. (melee styles, spell lines with root, snare, or stun.. etc. ). Ah.. but I am dreaming..

Fight #1 – Fight v. RR4 Theurg

[23:29:38] You prepare to unleash a volley of arrows!
[23:29:38] You prepare to fire. (3s to fire)
[23:29:38] You resist the effect!
[23:29:40] Alerra is attacking you and your shot is interrupted!
[23:29:40] Alerra hits you for 497 damage.
[23:29:41] You prepare your shot (3s to fire, target is in range)
[23:29:42] Alerra hits you for 497 damage.
[23:29:43] Alerra is attacking you and your shot is interrupted!
[23:29:43] Alerra hits you for 497 damage.
[23:29:43] Marty was just killed in Breifine by Alerra!

Comment: RR4 Theurg does 1494 points of damage in three seconds versus an RR5 ranger with full resists. Ummmm - what???
Why didn't you use sureshot? You would have won unless he burned moc. And why did you use volley there? Were you unstealthed, cause it seems that he got to initiate the fight.

Fight #2 – Desperate Bowman fails

[23:34:56] You examine Reversal. She is a member of an enemy realm!
[23:34:57] You prepare your shot (3s to fire, target is in range)
[23:34:58] You will now automatically release your shot.
[23:34:58] You will now automatically release your shot and reload.
[23:34:58] Lode attacks Reversal with his sword!
[23:34:58] Reversal begins moving more slowly!
[23:34:59] You auto-face Avalonian.
[23:34:59] You cast a Desperate Bowman Spell!
[23:34:59] You hit for 251 damage!
[23:34:59] Reversal already has that effect.
[23:34:59] Wait until it expires. Spell Failed

Comment: Desperate Bowman fails here because the target has another slow effect. I am wondering: what other timers affect Desparate Bowman? All of them? I was mildly impressed with the damage, by the way.
This one had someone use a stun style on them recently.

Fight #3 – Fight v. RR7 Minstrel
I don't know if you had zephyr at that time, but if so why didn't you use it? That's the only thing you could have done to get him though. That aswell as getting full druid buffs that is. A good minstrel doesn't have to lose a 1vs1, especially not fully buffed.

I didn't SS the theurg because I was volleying from behind a tree at the time. I was sure he couldn't see me - but I was wrong heh heh.

Yes I have Zephyr but it was down at the time.

As to the folks who keep focusing on my lack of being buffbotted at the time, the point of the post is not that I lost. The point is the very high amount of damage Minstrels can do in a very short period of time with DDs and decent melee, combined with insta-paralyzation. Also, this is a class with stealth and group speed. I honestly do not think the result would have been different just because I was buffed.

That damage might well have been lessened if you had been buffed.. Bear with me on this thought..

With my mentalist I have been noticing higher outright "spell" resists vs buffbotted players. I still need to set up some controled tests on Pendragon with logs to try an prove it one way or another. But if my theory turns out to be true.. then those buffs themselves would have made it harder for those attacking you to do as much damage.. since you might have outright resisted one or more of those spells.

Here's my opinion on the Minstrel fight...

1. Never open up with anything less than a critshot on a Minstrel (I've made this mistake before and was killed with the two insta's at the end of the fight with the Minstrel at 13% health). You need the frontload damage because they bring sooooooo much to the table in a 1 v. 1 fight. Make sure it's with pierce arrows (chain is weak to pierce). If they would run out of range before you can crit shot, let them go. You can always stealth back up and hope they do the same and come back. MoS will allow you to jump them with a critshot.

2. Make sure you kite up a storm and work for positionals like mad. Many minstrels depend on their stun to get the free damage in and are not great meleers in general. They get a good lead and hold onto it.

3. Use any extra tricks you can get your hands on (Band of Stars Bolt early, FZ, Desperate Bowman for a finishing shot, etc.). I have my Band of Stars on my hotbar along with one of the AoE fire potions from SI. I've used each of them in solo fights and they made enough of a difference that I didn't have to /release at the end.
