Trueshot III 10/26/04 1:30 PM
Being able to use Trueshot every 30 seconds seems very insane when you consider tower/keep battles. Trueshot + Critshot = Dead FOTM caster. Restealth. Repeat.

With 50 Bowspec(with 46 PF for dmg add for pure sniper) lots of +Dex Cap/Archery Dmg+ items and RR4+ you could be one badmofo with a bow. At RR5 (Purge I and FE 2 and Augdex I) with 16.5 DPS and it would seem like skeet shooting. Anyone have this or tested on Pendragon? It seems like alot to give up in RA's and you wouldnt have good melee RA's (IP, MoS etc) but for Sniper Spec it would seem to own.

Trueshot: Grants a 50% range bonus to the next arrow fired. This arrow will penetrate and pop blade turn. (3000 Range + Elevation bonus?)

2-3 Rangers assisting with TS III and no-one would be safe.

I dont know how pathetic 26 Pierce and 10 CD would be for melee but wouldnt be melee a whole lot anyway. Could do Diamondback with Scorpion(detaunt Def Bonus) backup and wait for Diamondback to land. Could even equip a Shield to buy more time until DB does land.
Could also just forget melee and get last Pathfinding Dmg add (50/46/34).

Trueshot Ranger spec.

50 Bow (Damage)
36 PF (2nd best Dmg Add)
35 Stealth (RR5 = 50 stealth 11+4)
26 Pierce (Diamondback: Stun ->Speedburst or Stun->Critshot)
10 CD (Snowshower: Speedbusrt + Backpositional Snare for fleeing targets)

R1L5: Trueshot I
R2L5: Trueshot II
R4L0: Trueshot III
R4L5: Purge I
R4L9: Falcons Eye 1-II
R5L0: Aug Dex I

I think maybe you misunderstand TS? Trueshot is a shot in and of itself. You can't trueshot a crit. Heh, if you could do that I would definately take it to 3 and never look back. Although, TS and then a critshot to followup is a good idea and could be extremely effective. I haven't had much sucess with double-crits using my fools bow, but I'm sure I'll get better at it. If you could pull a TS and then a crit.... man..... insta kill any caster :) Only problem would be that you would have to estimate whether or not you're in range to fire a critshot (because TS is 150% range, you could be at liek 110% range when you shoot the TS and then not be able to get the crit off).

I currently only use TS1 to finish off people when they get out of range - especially to leech a kill after a group kills a necro pet and the necro gets out of their range >:)

I'll have to test out your idea once I get better at double critting hehe.

I already tried a similar build and it's not great. Since I had no buffbot, I specced 50 bow, 46 Pathfinding, and I think 34 Stealth. This works really well for PvE. It does not cut it in RvR though. I kept thinking, wow I am going to have a 16.5DPS weapon +9.4DPS add, which means I will have this uber 25 DPS damage output. Wrong. The 46 damage add actually makes your crit shot of 700 bump all the way up to a whopping 732 or if your really lucky, 742. That's right, 46 spec points for about 40 extra damage. Not only that but when you(and you will constantly) get anywhere near an enemy stealther, they will ass rape you and the only thing you can do is lube up before going out. They will see you a mile away, even with MoS 2 and 48 effective stealth and Camo up.

Trueshot does not have crit shot built into it, but if you ever get Falcon's Eye built up, Trueshot can crit. So wait until you get FE IV or V before bothering with Trueshot unless you find yourself not being able to get that last shot in before the enemy gets out of range.

" Not only that but when you(and you will constantly) get anywhere near an enemy stealther, they will ass rape you "

hehe, what did you expect to happen with a spec that has no melee :) If an unbotted ranger specced fully for bow could stand half a chance against an assassin.... then something is very wrong with the game IMO.

Also, 700 critshot? =/ that's kind of crappy. I usually try to stick with casters, so I'm used to seeing numbers 1000+ (only 45 spec so my cap is 1150 til I get higher RR).

If you pull off trueshot + crit you wouldn't need the trueshot to crit (unless you're shooting someone other than a caster). 350ish + 1050ish = way more hps than any caster I know has :)

Technically its the Trueshot III that makes it powerful, not the race/spec.

You could be a Shar Ranger with 35 Recurve and still do well with Trueshot III (not as well hehe). The power lies in being able to fire your first arrow and have that arrow pop bladeturn and do damage, then following up with a Crit. Casters are used to BT buying them some time to get out of range. With 30 second turnover time you could TS them again if they some how survived TS+Crit and were outside range medding.

Having it availible every 30 secs means you can TS pretty much whenever you want. If a buddy of yours had TSIII too it would really be deadly.
