I remember a thread here where someone tested the effect of +servant skill
on the damage shield variance, maybe someone got the thread bookmarked.

Im asking because when fighting taurs today I notice the difference is actually
rather high with my 47 +1 servant spec. I often got hits like

Taur Suletor hits your abomination for 120
Your pet hits Taur Suletor for 106 damage

Taur Suletor hits your abomination for 125
Your pet hits Taur Suletor for 151 damage

This is the same mob and I didnt do anything that would change his attack
speed.

We really can't comment on shield output without seeing the time stamps on those messages.
Mobs do not always swing at a fixed rate.

I've asked this question several time and have never gotten a tested responce...

Does +buff bonus affect our DS? I have tested but never enough to get a for sure answer due to mob variance.

The +buff bonus is +stat improvement bonus; the damage shield is not a stat.

I think I will just test 47 +1 servant vs. 47 +4 servant vs. 47 +12 servant,
IF servant spec has any effect on the variance, it should be rather obvious then.

Ive done a smaller test now, but its enough for me to not go
for any +servant wink
Both tests were done with about 40 attacks each.

This was vs. a blue con mob (the same mob for all tests).

48 Death Servant:
Damage range: 66 - 107
Damage done: 3767
Number of hits: 43
-> Avg DS damage: 87.6

57 Death Servant:
Damage range: 66 - 111
Damage done: 3374
Number of hits: 39
-> Avg DS damage: 86.5

Xior,

I've never seen any test data proving that anything would increase DS output.

It does damage to physical attackers who make actual contact with the servant.
It cannot be blocked/parried/evaded.
If the servant blocks or parries, then no damage is done in that attack round.

It is a neutral damage type, so resists do not affect it; neither do debuffs.
It is not an offensive spell attack, so MoM and WP do not affect it.
It is not a melee attack, so MoPain does not affect it.

+bonus to duration does seem to affect in that it lasts longer, but no necessarily more dmg.

what is it that makes chimera get such low dmg from the shield? only does ~20 dmg to it.

Some very high level or special mobs (Chimera, Golestandt, ...) appear to have special coding.
These can do a variety of things depending on mob:
1) reduce the value of melee attacks (some mobs take greatly reduced melee)
2) reduce the value of damage shield damage
3) make them immune to certain attack types (no magic, no ranged attacks, ...)
