Is there one? Or do they re-root people over and over? Are they on a different timer than casted roots (from non-animist classes)? Do casted bomber pet roots work on the same timer too?

Sick of searching for this answer so decided to just ask it.

Thanks.

All roots set an immunity timer.

The Tangler do have the 'reputation' as being a snare turret, due to name and the typical low level variety that has a short root duration. A short duration root will act as a snare (which all roots are a 99% snare) as the % drops quickly.

So a druid root and elder tangler root are on the same immunity timer and the 99% snare drops % every time someone recasts it on the same target? Assuming that each are considered the same does it mean the tangler cannot re-root the target for a full minute after damage is inflicted?

Just trying to clarify your response. The reason I ask is that dropping a few of these in open field combat appears to re-root targets even after it would appear they should be immune. Since they're fire and forget I don't give the immunity much attention; until I thought about how effective they might be.

As I said. All Roots set an immunity timer.

So a Druid casting a 1 min root on Bob. Roots Bob for 1 minute. Bob gets hit at 30 seconds and is now free of the root, and his immunity timer is active. The low lvl tangler casts onto Bob because Bob is moving and attacking the Animist or their partymemebers. The Tanglers low lvl root does not stick as Bob has an immunity timer.

The Tanglers usually live longer then the 1 minute immunity so you observer a rapid reapplication of the root as soon as the immunity timer fades.

Keep in mind. Bob will be having tangler(s) casting on him the whole time. The immunity timer prevents the spell from landing though.

With the low level tanglers their effect is so short they appear to snare the target.

All roots will allow a target to start to slowly move at 40% of the duration (After resists). So a Druids 1 minute root will allow Bob to start slowly moving at around 36 seconds with him gaining movement speed every second. While a low level Tanglers root is only 14 seconds. Bob will start moving 8 seconds into the duration.

I think the confusion might be here:

A root is simply a high-value, slowly diminishing snare. They're the exact same effect (and, in fact, share an immunity timer).

If you want to test it, duel a friend, and root him, then tell him to continuously move. You'll notice near the end of the root he'll start to move slowly, and will regain his movement speed near the end of the root.

All roots function like this, regardless of duration, and regardless of the number of times you cast them on a target, in RvR (in PvE, they just root).

If you cast a short-duration root, the amount of time they take the full 99% snare effect is minimal to none, so they effectively are just snared.

Casting multiple roots or snares on an RvR target does not diminish the effect at all, nor does it have any other effect on the target, for the moment you root him, he's immune to all roots until his timer goes off.
