Me and a buddy have been powerleveling us some animists in CM with a chanter and druid bot. I have noticed that the pbaoe will peel the fds really easy. I'm talking peeling the chanter when the animist was 24 and doin 30dmg a pbaoe if that. Is there alot of extra aggresion built into the pbaoe or is this just wierd?

Pet is on passive and chanter has had fds up for atleast 8-10 seconds.

It may be coded the way the other PBAEs are in the game in that they give more aggression, but that's my only guess.

I have noticed that the verd PBAE holds aggro very well also, which is a good thing later on in life as your pet can grab aggro from swarms and hold it while PBAErs melt 20-40 reds (requires a couple druids to spam heal the shroom...and ML9 for the rough pulls to be safe. but after 1-2 verd PBAEs chanters/elds have a hard time pulling aggro off your pet that is doing 1/4 the damage that they are doing.

It doesn't taunt if the pet is on passive.

the taunt is its targeted spell, not the pbaoe. at least that is the way the delves read to me.

The chanter pet is only getting half the aggro for the damage it does via focus. The chanter is getting the other half. Well 51/49 anyway.

Verd pbaoe dmg goes purely to the pet (only transfered to ani if pet dies).

I was told that traditionaly (Supp SM, Eld, Chanter, Wiz) PBAOE's spread the agro evenly throught the group, I think it may have been mentioned in a grab bag also a few years ago.

Lagnar: The "PBAEs spread agro throughout the group" benefit of PBAEs was nerfed a few patches ago. PBAOEs now generate full agro on the caster. sad

The patch notes worded it so that it sounded like it only happened when there were multiple AOErs, but every PBAEr I know who played with it said that the nerf even occured for a single caster.

Fortunately there were still plenty of ways to firmly establish agro on someone else, so it only slowed down PBAE groups a bit, and didn't kill them. (At least in alb - Pallies are great agro holders due to heal chant.)

I've also noticed that the verd PBAE tends to be very good at stealing agro. In addition, one thing I don't like is that sporespawns seem to send agro straight to the caster, and not to the sporespawn itself.

"In addition, one thing I don't like is that sporespawns seem to send agro straight to the caster, and not to the sporespawn itself."

that was part of a nerf that came out with the wave of nerfs (the whole NF dark age) to remove an exploit with petspam. Very few people notice it - and currently, one outright resisted first casts by the summoned pets (be it FnFs or controlled) the Animist will pretty much be assured of all aggro.

[basically, every FnF cast gives the animist 'some' aggro now, and its dependant on spells, not wether the spell lands .. so in the case of the resisted spell, the pet gets a 'reduced' aggro amount from the resist, but the animist still gets the normal amount .. if the animist has a controlled pet up, the controlled pet shares aggro with the animist, which is why you are less likely to see it happen when you have a controlled resist, as the controlled gets the reduced resisted amount, then some more that is shared with the ani, then the ani gets his amount - the amount he shared with the pet]
