I was just checking the animist read only boards as i was at work and bored and someone proposed that the pets die when the animist dies. Of course the animist community rung out w/ shouts of troll, flame bait etc. I hope the same thing doesnt happen on this thread. I should state, up front, that i havnt played an animist to the 40s so this commentary comes predominately from the perspective of the shroomed, and not the shrooming. I think that animists are generally balanced, neither under or over and that they sacrifice their on the move potential for extensive defensive capabilities. That said the one thing about animists that has always bugged me...

is that the pets seem to LOS check at the beginning and not the end of a cast. This means that that if you come into the LOS of a shroom w/in 1500 range, you are obligated to take the damage this shroom or clump of shrooms can muster. I understand that given the cast time of the shrooms as they cast their nukes, this is at present at least partially justifiable. If the cast time were adjusted to be something more reasonable would you accept pets having to be in LOS at the end of a cast for it to land? Do you feel that at present it is WAI? (Working As Intended)

1) Pet range is 1000, not 1500.
2) All casting pets behave this way because they follow mob coding. Change mobs which in turn changes all pets which in turn changes Animist shrooms. Fix it right -- don't blame Animists.

I did realize it followed pet coding and wasnt specific to animists but the post was already getting relatively long and verbose so i opted to neglect it. While this is a mob/pet issue, i believe it is most advantageous to the animist class as a result of both the fire and forget nature of their pets and the tendecy of animist to clump them resulting in the response of up to 8 i believe it is at once. Regarding the range that is news to me as i said i am very welcome to correction in this vicinity as i have not played an animist extensively.

You clearly have never been completely locked down a chain stunning cabbie pet that hits you through the walls. All pet classes benefit from this mechanic to some degree, but "most advantageous" is debatable.

For some reason Mythic removed the pet info from the Herald spell library. However, you can still find it on sites like Classes of Camelot. Here's the Animist spell list -- just search for "Forest's Core". The first number on casting time and range are for the Animist to cast the spell. The second number in green and surrounded by parentheses is for the pet to cast and its range. This is also very easy to test on Pendragon with a friend if you think I'm wrong.
