Damage Add 10/15/03 11:36 AM
Hello everyone,

I'm just returning to the game after a long break and wanted to play a full Enchantment Mastery Enchanter. I wanted to have the strong pet, but I also wanted to be able to stand in the middle of Mag Mell and throw buffs at lowbies.

I looked at Camelot Herald and the damage add buffs, and wanted to know a few things....

1. What is dps? Is that damage per swing or damage per second? If so, 10.0 dps doesn't sound too great...How, exactly, does it work?
2. When I took a break a few months ago, they had just nerfed the damage add to where high level damage add was only effective at a certain level...or something like that. What exactly happened to the buff?

Thanks for your time.

The lowbies will still love you for the dmg add. They did nerf it because mythic didnt want low lvls running around doing 14 dps (damage per second). So I believe it scales with your lvl now. But the em chanter has the only real castable dmg add in hib so it isnt everyday a hib gets a dmg add, unlike in alb.

I'd like to know how dps is calculated myself. The dmg add is still very nice, even when casted on lowbies..it does scale the dmg a bit based on level but its still very nice to have.

Wish I knew the formula for dps, but I can tell you that when my hero was 40 the yellow damage add gave me an extra 45 damage per hit. Haven't had a chance to look at red, as there aren't that many enchant specced enchanters out there.

Qardos what did your hero hit at about WITHOUT the dmg add? Just trying to see the percentage of hit dmg increase.

As a Enchant Chanter I have done some research and asked question in regards to this.. after testing it is Damage Per Second. Take the amount of time is take to swing the weapon x the DPS of the damage add.. on my LW hero I can swing a 5.9 second weapon and get an additional 59 pts of damage per swing. If you give that hero a red druid spec buff for attack speed it reduces the amount of damage you do per swing. So a DPS buff on a 1.2 swinging weapon is doing the same damage as a slower 5.9 as it is figured off of time to swing not fixed speed.. That kinda suck in my option.. but makes it even across the board.

Cool..thanks for clearing that up Guimast. Sounds like it would be nice if you had the red druid attack speed buff AND the red enchant dmg add that would be nice. Geez the top dmg add is around 10 dps...isnt the top piercing weps max 16 dps? Thats a huge increase in dmg.
