WS formula

After a lot of research and experimentation I managed to find a formula which approaches pretty well the WS. Ther are 4 factors involved:
- player lvl (LVL)
- skill spec + bonus from RR (SPEC)
- stats affecting the weapon (STAT)
- +skill bonuses from items (BONUS)

The formula is:
WS = 6.6 * LVL * (1 + SPEC/100) * (1 + STAT/150) * (1 + BONUS/80)

The formula isn't exact, so you'll always see some variations. Due to the roundings used by the game it's very difficult to find the real parameters and I didn't want to have a formula with complicated numbers. However I think it's a good measure for people who want to know how their stats/spec change their WS.

This is the formula for the bow WS which is probably the same as the one used by the tanks. The rogues use a factor of 5.5 instead of 6.6, while the hybrids a factor of 5.6 it seems (further testing is needed however).

PS. For people who want to do more research on their own, the cofficient of STAT and especially BONUS need probably to be refined a little more.

just to throw a monkey wrench in there, what happens when you plug in our melee weapskill vs our bow weapskill?

For rogues melee you replace the 6.6 by 5.5, ie:
WS = 5.5 * LVL * (1 + SPEC/100) * (1 + STAT/150) * (1 + BONUS/80)

while for hybrids melee (friars, paladins, reavers):
WS = 5.6 * LVL * (1 + SPEC/100) * (1 + STAT/150) * (1 + BONUS/80)

according to the formula, I should have 1248 melee weapskill. My real weapskill is around 1400.

it does come close on my bow weapskill, i would have to check in-game, but it comes out to 1721 according to the formula.

I think you forgot something when you calculated the WS for your melee weapon.

For my scout:
LVL=50
STAT=327 (str)
SPEC=35+4
BONUS =11
using the formula for rogues you obtain a WS of 1382, while the real one is 1352 - not very close, but like I said, for melee weapons I didn't tested enough.

PS. I found that for rogues a 5.4 cofficient is better
WS = 5.4 * LVL * (1 + SPEC/100) * (1 + STAT/150) * (1 + BONUS/80)

5.67 works very close for a 1 hand champion

edit: I did some research on this a while back, and got stumped.

What you came up with for a formula is very similar to what I was thinking, but you just did somethings in different ways. Your formula fits all my data points for champsion, if I use a coefficient of 5.68, within a acceptable margin of error (rounding to the closest integer usually hits the data point). I have a couple odd balls, but I believe that is due to my data not seperating +Items and Spec + RR, and I just have effective spec so on some points I am best guessing the breakdown.

Kudos!

what about diminishing returns (or how ever they called it) from stats above the 300 'cap'? do they also apply to WS?

[EDIT: deleted some...]

this formula doesn't really account for it I think, but being that it fits the data points closely I'd say neither does the game.

Formula for Rogue WS using 5.4 comes out to a total of 844, my Scouts real WS is 823 (Slash), so pretty close. For bow the formula came out to 1429 or so, my actual WS is 1386 or so, doesn't get to 1400 unbuffed tho. Kinda close I guess.

That is correct, there's no diminishing returns right now in the game past 300 on stats, they used to be capped, when they were uncapped they were simply uncapped... your return on investment on the stat is the same past 300 as pre-300 (for the purpose of WS anyway).

Oh and the bonus you gain from sped and from +spec thru RR/items is different setania, for more on that (look towards the bottom at Kaber's post):
